DTaF is looking for a new head coach from late 2024 to 2028, with the possibility of extension. We will be participating in the World Championships in 2025 and 2027, as well as the Olympics in 2028, and are aiming to achieve results. Expectations are high, but you have the potential to meet them. You are able to help the most talented Danish athletes progress even further.
We are looking for an experienced head coach with a background in working with both elite and sub-elite, as there will be close collaboration with development centers (UC) across the country. There will need to be a clear pathway from sub-elite to elite level, which you, as the head coach will help strengthen from your position.
You should be able to advance the most skilled Danish athletes even further.
As the head coach, you will have a central role in the development of both talented young athletes and established elite competitors with ambitions to compete on the world stage.
About the position:
As head coach in the Danish Taekwondo Federation, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individual training programs as well as team training during national team gatherings, ensuring that our athletes achieve top performances at both national and international levels. You will work closely with our sports director, assistant coaches, and the rest of the team to promote a culture of excellence and innovation. The national team serves as the main hub for the development centers (UC). As head coach, you will maintain close dialogue with coaches and management in the UC.
Candidate requirements:
International experience: You should have solid coaching experience from international competitions and championships, including World Championships, European Championships, Grand Prix events, and other relevant tournaments, with a strong ability to navigate on the international taekwondo scene. If you also have points on Taekwondo Data showing your coaching experience up to the present, this can also be considered, as a comprehensive assessment of each candidate's overall qualifications will be made.
Olympic experience: We would like you to have experience from the Olympic Games, either as an active athlete or preferably as coach, and a deep understanding of the Olympic environment and its requirements. Experience in coaching top 8 fighters on the world ranking list can also be considered significant.
You should have many years of experience in talent development at the highest level, with documented results in developing and promoting young talents to elite-level athletes.
Leadership skills: You must possess strong and documented leadership and communications skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both athletes and coaches.
Educational requirements: Diploma in coaching coaching specializing in Taekwondo, National Team Coach education, or other relevant sports-related background at the same level or higher. Specific experience with contemporary Taekwondo sparring is a requirement.
Responsibilities:
Assist in identifying and promoting talented athletes as well as developing and leading training programs for both elite and talented athletes.
Work closely with the rest of the national team management, UC, and TEU (Political Committee) to ensure a coordinated approach for training and competition—providing the best conditions possible.
Represent the Danish Taekwondo Federation in international forums and in collaboration with other federations and organizations where required.
Must be an instructor at DTaF's official summer camp – if possible.
